Charles Asch completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Minnesota this May 2017, after receiving his master’s degree at Juilliard. Dr. Asch performs solo and chamber music recitals of varied character and style, from Bach and Brahms to contemporary works. He performs on a Baroque cello from c. 1710 Vienna, with a baroque bow by Cristopher English. His ensemble work includes performances with Lyra Baroque Orchestra, Minnesota Bach Society and the Minnesota Opera. Dr. Asch is currently cello faculty at UW-River Falls, MacPhail Center for Music and Mount Calvary Academy of Music. Aside from cello, he has studied both piano and voice. He is currently a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Choir, which performs works ranging from Duruflé, Faure and Victoria.
