SungAe Song was born in South Korea and she has been studying flute for 24 years. She won prizes in the various Music competitions in South Korea. She had a debut concert for outstanding students who were chosen by faculty among various universities in Seoul when she studied in South Korea. She also had a professional career as Guest Principal Flutist of Seoul Academy Orchestra, SeongNam Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra and various orchestras and as a teacher for 4 years immediately following her graduation from SungShin Women’s University. She obtained Master of Music degree and Professional Studies Diploma with scholarship from Mannes College the New School for Music in New York for 4 years with Judith Mendenhall. While studying in Mannes College, she was participated in various masterclasses and music festivals with Jeanne Baxtresser, Stefán Ragnar Höskuldsson, Karl-Heinz Schütz and many famous flutists, and she had many recitals and various concerts with chamber ensemble and orchestras. She got a first prize in New York Artists International Competition and had winners concert at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall in NYC.

Currently, she is awarded a degree for Doctor of Musical Arts at University of Minnesota with Immanuel Davis in a CLA fellowship. She teaches students for all levels as an instructor of flute in St. Paul School of Music and a private studio for the flute and baroque flute in MN. She is also a second flutist in Mankato Symphony Orchestra and traverso player in Oratory Bach Ensemble since 2017. She is one of director members in the Korean Flute Society and the Korean Flute Association.

Located in the Twin Cities area, pianist Casey Rafn currently holds positions at Lundstrum Performing Arts and the Bloomington Chorale. An award winning performer and active freelancer, his upcoming season includes performances in New York, Arizona, Missouri, and elsewhere. Originally from Two Harbors, MN, he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from The University of Iowa studying under Dr. Ksenia Nosikova.
