Tim Lane has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire since 1989. Prior to that he was a faculty member at Eastern Illinois University, the Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory Department. He has been a member of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Veracruz, Mexico, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, and the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra. As a college-age student he studied the flute with Maurice Sharp, Harold Bennett, Alexander Murray, and Claude Monteux. Studies in the Alexander Technique and in yoga (B. K. S. Iyengar approach) have also been important throughout his flute-playing career. Mr. Lane is featured on Shards of Glass, a solo recording published by Zuma Records, as a chamber musician on the CRI, Opus One, Lumina, and Skyline recording labels, and as second flute in two Tel Arc Digital recordings with the Cleveland Orchestra performing Romeo and Juliet and The Nutcracker by P. I. Tchaikovsky and the Symphony #5 by Dmitri Shostakovich.
Tim has recently established the Paper Route Press in order to publish his own book titled, Flute Playing and the Art of Doing Less, Volume One, Air, Lip, and Tongue and Flute Playing & the Art of Doing Less, Volume Two, Intonation, Resonance, and Color". The book has garnered extremely positive reviews in both the National Flute Association publication titled "The Flutist Quarterly" and the British Flute Association publication titled, "Pan". Future publications will include Interpretation and Expression: a Musician's Workbook, an annotated transcription of J. S. Bach's A Minor Partita for solo flute, and four of his obligatto sonatas,, Guillame Dufay,'s Pale Face Mass, a critical edition of W. A. Mozart's Concerto in D Major K. 314 for Flute and Orchestra (piano reduction), and original compositions (flute duos and a trio for Flute, Soprano Saxophone and Piano) by Tim Lane. Szu-Ling Wu received B.M. in piano performance and music education from the National Taipei University of Education in Taiwan, a Master of Music degree and an Artist Diploma degree in the Collaborative program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She finished her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 2013. She is currently working for the Minnesota Opera Education program as a piano accompanist, also working at Carleton College and Gustavus Adolphus College.
